Johnnie Walker Double Black, 40 %

Review #158
It is gentle on the nose with mild sweetness and mild peat. After a couple of minutes in the glass, the peat becomes more dominant and if you hold the glass at a good distance from your nose, some light fruity notes appears. Nothing much else happens…

A bit more peat in the taste with a hint of honey. Watered down to 40 % the finish dies rather fast, and the peat is almost the only thing getting a bit through.

I think this could be a pretty decent whisky if it was bottled at a higher strength. However, it is not, and unfortunately it is a bit boring from start till finish. Nevertheless, it could be a nice starter whisky for people who would like to try peated whisky. I will give this 80/100 (21/20/19/20).
